Taj Mahal – took 22 years to build and 22K folks It would cost 800 Million USD in today currency but is priceless as it brings an eternal and immortal story of love for generations
Friends a lot of folks asked us about sharing a bit about India. So we thought it would be best to share these via a blog post hence here we are with our first one. Forgive the lack of style as this is our first attempt but we will get better and leave us your thoughts/comments
India is huge! so we might have to break it up into a few themes like food , culture, cities, vibe etc. Since we are a restaurant it would make sense to start about our food, but I think in this post we want to share a few interesting facts about India. The scale is just huge!
Languages : There are 22 major languages in India, written in 13 different scripts, with over 720 dialects. I find it hard to learn one language imagine knowing 22. They say language is the key to understanding a culture. How diverse and culturally rich is India- its unfathomable to my simple mind.India has 29 states unlike the 50 in the US. The moment you leave one state of India and go to the next its a different country all together as the language changes so does the food style and also the culture.Think about leaving Florida and going to Georgia only to find a new language , new food and a different dress code!!
Population:The current population of India is 1.3 Billion 17% of the World Population. Wow 3 times the population of the United states. It is the largest democracy in the world – and not 2 parties but per latest publication from Election Commission of India, the total number of parties registered was 2599- talk about differences in opinions coming together to be united behind a republic.

Cities : There are 4,000 cities and towns in India. About 300 cities have population over 1,00,000. Seven cities have population more than 3 million. Want to experience the rush hour in Mumbai – No Thanks!
Villages: According to the 2011 census of India, 68.84% of Indians (around 833.1 million people) live in 640,867 different villages.
Economy: India is one of the fastest growing economies – its the world’s fifth-largest economy by nominal GDP and the third-largest by purchasing power parity (PPP). However recently its been slowing down. Long way to go but GO INDIA! we are cheering for you.
